What about Gray's anatomy?" Residency is more like Scrubs. It doesn't matter if you are a surgical resident or a pediatric resident, like myself. During your first year (intern year) you are a scrub. Bottom of the ladder. Low man on the totem pole. And life is just as dramatic as ER and as comical as Scrubs. If you don't laugh you cry, if you don't cry you scream and if you don't scream you internalize and go crazy. Bottom line- you have to get it out somehow, some way. I prefer the first two. And so this has become my life. A string of sleepless call nights sprinkled with life altering events, funny stories, pain, fatigue, fustration, joy, hope, insanity and sanity. At the end of these 3 years I will have the knowledge and confidence to do this thing called being a physician all on my own.
